A New Outlet

I am joining the throngs of people who love to Blog. I don't know if I will have anything terribly interesting to say but I guess this will be a good way to share my life with my children when they are older and want to know what was up with their mom while they were at school and their various other activities!

Had a wonderful time at MOPS this morning. That is Mothers of Preschoolers for all you acronym folks! I have been an active member of MOPS for 21 years. Surely that is a record. I look forward to the day I cross over from MOP member to MOP mentor. Not that I want Hank to grow up fast or anything, I just sometimes feel a little old to be a MOPS member! We had a great discussion this morning on parenting. Garry Shriver, (My Sunday School Classes co teacher along with my husband, Trent asked us one week if we would parent differently if we knew our child was going to win the Nobel Prize at age 45. We discussed the flip side of that as well. How would I parent differently if I knew my child was going to abuse drugs or chose a life of crime? That is not really something I want to think about. I do know I want to raise my children to bring glory to God through their choices, decisions and lives. I am thankful to have been able to see some fruit of that effort in my older children. I want them to thirst after righteousness in the same way the deer pants for water as pictured in Psalms.

Drew is having surgery tomorrow. He is a little nervous but staying strong. It is nothing serious although major surgery always carries a little concern. He had his wisdom teeth out last summer so we know he will do fine with the anesthesia. Pray for his sense of peace and for his healing.

Good News today--Parker recieved a Deans Scholarship Award at Texas Christian University. Not sure where he is going to end up but it is fun to receive all these scholarship offers and acceptances. He is looking for clear direction from God as to where he is supposed to go. What a delight to see him examine his options in this way!
